The Omegon field flattener - For achieving perfect image flatness with your astronomy photos
Many refractors suffer from field curvature - a curved image in which the stars no longer appear as sharp, pin-sharp points at the edge, but rather as un-sharp discs. But the Omegon Field Flattener will conjure up flat and aesthetic astronomy photos for you, with pinpoint stars right out to the outer edges of the image.
How to get the problem under control
Field curvature is a common optical defect which doesn't really arise with visual observing or when using smaller chips for photography. If, however, you use larger chips or full-frame cameras to photograph the night sky, this becomes much more significant. Of course you can crop the photos afterwards, but that is a shame when you have bought a camera with a big expensive chip. Photography with the field flattener is a much more elegant solution.
Flat over the entire field of view
The field flattener will give you an absolutely flat image over the entire photographic field of view. The focal length remains unchanged when using the field flattener.
Suitable for 126mm and 150mm triplet APO s
It will fit onto the Omegon Pro Carbon triplet models with 126 and 150mm apertures
M48 thread for better illumination
The Omegon field flattener has a M48 thread on both sides. You benefit from complete illumination. A T-2 thread and M42 would interfere with the light ray bundle and hence not provide complete illumination for telescopes with a 2" focuser. Only the M48 thread lets you use the entire light output.
The advantages in a nutshell:
- field flattening for refractors
- suitable for 126mm and 150mm triplet telescopes
- M48 thread for complete illumination with 2" focuser
- multi-coating on the lens surfaces
