Omegon Losmandy-style clamping plate: The massive 3" adapter for mount heads
If you have a mount which doesn't possess a prism rail adapter or if your mount needs a rigid connection to the telescope, then an Omegon 3" clamping plate is the answer. This plate consists of a solid profile with clamp block and a Losmandy-style 3" mounting plate.
The advantages in a nutshell:
- solid clamping plate for mount heads or adapters requiring a prism rail
- spring-loaded clamp block - high weight-bearing capacity but gentle on your equipment
- clamp block with 5x 8mm holes and 10x 6mm holes
- universal 3" dovetail plate - will accept everything of this size
- made from heavy duty solid material - designed for extremely high loads
Clamping plate - the base
The Omegon Losmandy-style clamping plate does not just accept the mounting plate included, but will also accept all other 3" dovetail plates. That means that if you use this clamping plate as the profile for taking telescope OTAs, you will be able to use a wide range of other instruments. Swapping instruments is done in a jiffy - simply slightly loosen the aluminium retaining screw on the spring-loaded retaining block and you will be able to slide out the plate and remove it. The base itself has 5 holes for 8mm screws and 10 holes for 6mm screws, giving a wide range of latitude for producing the adapter you require.
3" mounting plate
A precision-fit mounting plate is the perfect base for your telescope. This dovetail plate has numerous holes that can be used for adapting it to your equipment. The solid metal plate is also able to take heavier telescopes. If you want a precision adapter between your mount and your optics, then this single casting clamp is the perfect solution.
