For measuring the distance, simply place the bottom line on the monocular rangefinder's screen with the bottom of the flagpole, or the object (which must be the same height as a standard golf flag) and then simply read off the distance marking corresponding to the top of the flag or object - you will then know how far away the flag / object is.
Example: A person coincides exactly with the 200m marking - which means that the person is 200m away.
