Product description

More about the series ProNewton...

This telescope set consists of the following items:

Omegon Pro Newtonian - How to start your astronomy with a real boost
Enjoy sharply etched lunar craters, planets showing a wealth of detail, and deep sky objects that simply look brighter than through standard telescopes. The Omegon Pro Newtonian does not do things by halves - the workmanship and quality are first rate, ensuring everything works a treat for your exploration of the night sky.

The advantages in a nutshell

  • excellently engineered OTA - enjoy your observing for many years to come
  • main mirror with 94% reflection - brighter images and much more contrast than a standard mirror
  • 2" Crayford focuser - smooth focusing so you can easily find the exact point of focus

High quality metal OTA with excellent processing
The telescope's OTA offers you a sound introduction to a fascinating hobby. No cheap plastic, but metal together with excellent workmanship. This is an important prerequisite in the world of telescopes as it ensures you will continue enjoying your observing for many years to come.

The centrepiece is the main mirror, which is made from optical glass. In contrast to 'ordinary' glass, this offers a more stable shape during the cool-down phase, and that means a better image, even if the OTA has not yet completely equalised to the outside temperature.

Enhanced coating - 94% reflection for bright pictures
When you dive into the depths of space, you can see objects with your telescope that would never be visible to the unaided naked eye. What is important here is the aperture and the main mirror - with this telescope boasting 94% reflection. Enjoy extraordinary, high contrast images - letting you make out even the fainter deep sky objects.

2" Crayford focuser for the sharpness you need
The single-speed 2"Crayford focuser lets you easily focus with any eyepiece you want. The ball-bearing design enables feather-light and precise location of the exact point of focus possible. The bigger diameter allows you to overview a three times as big field of view - compared to a 1,25" focuser. Add a wide angle eyepiece and discover details of the Milky Way easily!

Thin spider and maximum contrast
Astronomers already know that a 'spider' here has nothing to do with the creepy-crawly which lives in your cellar. The secondary mirror spider holds the secondary mirror in position. The struts in this telescope's spider are only a few millimetres thick. The result is that the contrast is impressive.

Our tip - All around, a high quality OTA for getting started or for upgrading in astronomy.

Up to 10kg weight. But not one of those from the fitness studio.

A new mount for your telescope? Changing, upgrading or just getting started? The Omegon EQ-500 X is a strong mount and carries smaller or medium-sized telescope tubes up to about 200mm aperture and 10kg in weight. The simple design and easy operation lets you get going quickly for your next night of observing.

The features at a glance:

  • Stable equatorial mount for smooth and low-vibration observing with small and medium-sized telescopes.
  • Simple navigation in any desired direction with the manual fine adjustment knobs. Perfect for visual observing.
  • Ball-bearing axes, for smoother and more accurate tracking towards your target object.
  • Stable tripod: made of stainless steel, for a solid base for your telescope.
  • Adjustment rings with scale, so that you can also find your target object from your star map.

Manual equatorial mount: track objects

The equatorial design makes it easy to track objects that would otherwise disappear from your field of view. You simply turn about the RA axis using the convenient fine adjustment and easily keep the planet or nebula in the field of view at every level of magnification. So your astronomy evening is not only fun for you, but for your whole family too.

Stronger mount: how a change can give you more pleasure

How long does your previous mount need to settle and deliver a stable image? It’s a fact that many mounts are too weak for your optical tubes. This is almost like an astro killjoy virus, which you can successfully overcome with this mount. Your refractor or medium-sized mirror telescope now sits much more stably and you benefit from better mechanics for more pleasurable observing.

Ball bearing axes for fluid movements

Here everything runs smoothly: the EQ-500 X mount is equipped with ball bearings in both axes. The movement of the axes is much more fluid - for pinpoint positioning without juddering, even at high levels of magnification.

Stable tripod

The height-adjustable tripod made of stainless steel is considerably more durable than other aluminum tripods. The solid spreader plate additionally serves as a safe storage place for seven 1.25" eyepieces and two 2" eyepieces - your accessories are close at hand all night.

Setting circles to find objects using to coordinates

Sometimes you need help, especially if you want to find a faint object. With a star map and the adjustment rings you can set up your target using celestial coordinates.

Omegon Premium Flat Field Eyepieces - combining flattened image field with high contrast
Most eyepieces suffer from image distortion at the edge of the field of view. If you move the object observed into the outer part of the field of view it becomes distorted. Omegon premium flat field eyepieces counteract this effect. Who does not want a really true to life and undistorted image?
You can get really close to this ideal with flat field eyepieces. These flat field eyepieces have an ED lens element included which gives particularly good colour purity. Their optical construction also means that these eyepieces offer extremely high contrast and sharpness, way above the usual level.

The advantages in a nutshell:

  • flat field optics, giving a flat field of view
  • ED element for high contrast and image colour purity
  • wide angle eyepiece with 60° to 65° field of view
  • multi-coating on all lens surfaces
  • 16mm eye relief, suitable for spectacle wearers
  • foldable eye cups
  • 1.25“ barrel with 1.25“ filter thread

Wide field of view
With a 60° to 65° apparent field of view, these eyepieces belong to the wide angle eyepiece category. Classic 'tunnel vision' eyepieces stay more and more in the drawer. Compared to the familiar Ploessl eyepieces, premium flat field eyepieces give a field of view which is around 20% wider.
The body of the eyepiece combines up to six lens elements, producing a really high quality eyepiece. All glass/air surfaces are multi-coated, preventing unwanted reflections and guaranteeing high brilliance and transparency. You can therefore expect extraordinarily good contrast when observing planets and DSOs through these eyepieces.

Between eye and eyepiece
The eye relief with these eyepieces means they are particularly pleasant to use. There is no shadowing, even if you are not looking directly along the optical axis. These eyepieces are available in focal lengths of 25 / 19 / 15.5 / 10.5 and 5.5mm. All these focal lengths have large ocular diameter, meaning relaxed observing is possible even at high magnifications. The 16mm of eye relief means these eyepieces are also suitable for spectacle wearers, as a rule allowing them to see the entire field of view. The eyepieces can be used with most telescopes without problem. Even with Newtonian telescopes with a fast aperture ratio of f/5, the edge of the field of view has good edge definition.
