Useful accesory with low profile focusers
Review by F. P. on 03.12.2010 03:26:36( 4 / 5 )
Most synta style newtonians will have serious problems geting focus with a DSLR
attached. Replacing the focuser with a low profile crayford is a good solution,
but then the problem arises when reaching focus in visual mode.
The 2" extension tube can be used to reach focus in visual mode if you have
replaced the original focuser with a lower profile one.
PROS:
- Well machined and nice finished
- Brass compression ring to secure eyepieces inside without damage
- Thread for 2" filters
CONS:
- The knob that drives the compression ring is too thin and can't be
operated with gloves
- The optical path of 35mm doesn't allow to use eyepieces with filters
attached, filters have to be attached to the extension tube itself as
it allows for it
