Alas I had to return the mount for repair after less than 1 year as it was very noisy and "stuttering " when slewing and would not align. It is a great unit when star gazing and usually tracks very well. I await the repaired unit and hope it works well. It is very portable and easy to set up.

contrary to what Team Astroshop may think, i have an E-mail from [email protected] of todays date which states that the LX85 with the 8inch Newtonian ships with two 10lbs counterweights.

yes, due to the many complaints, the scope will be shipped with two counterweights in the future, directly from meade. The current batch does not have it though.

i have used this telescope many times in May and found it very good and enjoyable and excellent tracking.
with a little adjustment i can use a 1.25 diagonal when the OTA is in an impossible position.
it is quick to set up and align and i look forward to many more enjoyable nights taking photos of planets and galaxies if it ever stops raining in Ireland.

the price of this telescope has increased by 300 euros since April 2020 which is an increase of 21.6% when inflation is almost zero. is there a valid reason for this. i bought one in April 2020 and have enjoyed many nights of star gazing and photography. it is a good telescope but is now very expensive.

Meade customer service have also confirmed to me that a power cable is included with the telescope
i did not get a power cable with the telescope but had to argue my case with Astroshop who eventually agreed to supply one for free.

be VERY VERY careful if you consider
buying this telescope as i did. it arrived without a second counter weight and NO power cable so i could not use it "out of the box". i found Astroshop obstinate and in denial of their shortcomings.
i cannot rate the telescope as i am still waiting ( ten days after getting the first delivery) the delivery of the missing items to start it up and go stargazing. my phone number is 00353868868501 if anybody would like to speak to me.

Dear customer,
the telesscope and the mount are delivered with the default accessories from Meade. This does not include a power cable or a second counter weight. Since the second counterweight could be necessary for the N200/1000 according to what eyepieces/cameras are used, we will update our content with this information to avoid such problems in the future.
