Right on course with the flagship - the 104mm triplet apo for fantastic astronomy photos
If you are looking for an apochromat with a colour-neutral and superb contrast images, you are exactly right when Omegon 104 f 6. This triplet air-gap lens, made with Ohara Glass from Japan, provides a vibrant image with pin-sharp stars right out to the edge of the field of view. You will experience ultra-high contrast even at higher magnifications. Take this master photographer with you 'on board' - it is superb for virtually any type of astrophotography.
The highlights in a nutshell
- triplet lens with FPL-53 and FPL-51 elements
- pure colour images and outstanding contrast
- full illumination - 2.9" focuser with diagonal gearing and 1:10 micro-focusing
- 2"/ 1.25" reducer and M74 thread
- aluminium transport case
The optics achieve an image of the highest quality
Observing a planet with this apochromat is no less than an absolutely amazing experience. Compared to most mirror systems, you will see more detail and with better contrast - a planet which simply looks much sharper. And that which is true for planets is of course also valid for star clusters or other deep-sky objects.
The reason for this is one of the best optical systems that we know of. A triplet lens with an OHARA FPL 51 and an FPL 53 element eliminates chromatic aberration completely. This sets the basis for this refractor to take captivatingly beautiful and exclusive astronomy photos.
The image definition of Apos is much better than that of mirror systems as they have no OTA obstruction with its associated deterioration in intensity distribution of the Airy disk. Especially for small contrast differences, the refractor is an unbeatable tool.
2.9" hybrid focuser - for full illumination
The apo has a 2.9" focuser, meaning you can connect any camera to it - whether you have an APS chip or a full-frame camera, complete illumination is always guaranteed. The focuser is focused via diagonal gearing and runs on plain bearings. That means even if you connect a heavy camera, accurate focusing is always assured.
Any position possible - 360° rotatable
It all too often happens that you as an astronomy photographer have an object in view which is not aligned with the camera image. Perhaps an elongated object is not aligned with the long axis of the chip but at right angles to it. This problem can however be easily resolved with this telescope by simply rotating the 360° rotatable focuser.
Dual Speed 1:10 micro focuser
The focusing of objects takes place in two stages - using the coarse focuser and then the 1:10 micro-focuser. This fine adjustment knob allows objects to be focused much more accurately. Astrophotographers know the problem well - you think you have reached optimal sharpness, but actually you have overshot it.
The micro-focuser is so mechanically precise however that it responds to even minimal changes when homing in on the precise point of focus
1.25", 2" and M74 connectors
The 2.9" focuser has a standard 2" connection and a reducer for 1.25". You can use these to connect all the accessories from our range, such as eyepieces and adapters. An additional M74 thread serves for attaching your full-frame camera. And it all works with a fully illuminated and flat image field.
CNC tube for of the best optics
The tube with Omegon apos consists of a CNC-machined metal construction with a sophisticated baffle system for preventing internal reflections. The entire interior of the tube is also lined with a velvet-like black fabric.
Dew shield
The apo's dew shield is extendable, taking the apo to a maximum 635mm in length.
Tranport case - The 'cabin' of the refractor
Every time the refractor is not in use, it returns to its 'off-duty' position, i.e. it goes into its transport case. An aluminium exterior and precisely moulded foam-element interior ensures the instrument is protected from dust and knocks. The refractor is your lookout tower and the mount your control - so that, in future, you will be getting the best results in the country.
Further technical details
- tube length (retracted) 564mm
- tube length, with dew shield fully extended, 635mm
- dew shield length 134mm
- OTA OD 114mm
- focuser adjustment 96mm
- dimensions of transport case 670x230x231mm
- OTA weight 5560g
- CNC-machined tube rings 820g
The Omegon field flattener - For achieving perfect image flatness with your astronomy photos
Many refractors suffer from field curvature - a curved image in which the stars no longer appear as sharp, pin-sharp points at the edge, but rather as un-sharp discs. But the Omegon Field Flattener will conjure up flat and aesthetic astronomy photos for you, with pinpoint stars right out to the outer edges of the image.
How to get the problem under control
Field curvature is a common optical defect which doesn't really arise with visual observing or when using smaller chips for photography. If, however, you use larger chips or full-frame cameras to photograph the night sky, this becomes much more significant. Of course you can crop the photos afterwards, but that is a shame when you have bought a camera with a big expensive chip. Photography with the field flattener is a much more elegant solution.
Flat over the entire field of view
The field flattener will give you an absolutely flat image over the entire photographic field of view. The focal length remains unchanged when using the field flattener.
Suitable for 126mm and 150mm triplet APO s
It will fit onto the Omegon Pro Carbon triplet models with 126 and 150mm apertures
M48 thread for better illumination
The Omegon field flattener has a M48 thread on both sides. You benefit from complete illumination. A T-2 thread and M42 would interfere with the light ray bundle and hence not provide complete illumination for telescopes with a 2" focuser. Only the M48 thread lets you use the entire light output.
The advantages in a nutshell:
- field flattening for refractors
- suitable for 126mm and 150mm triplet telescopes
- M48 thread for complete illumination with 2" focuser
- multi-coating on the lens surfaces
