More about the series Pro APO...

The 'apo for everyone' is back - Omegon triplet apochromat with sturdy transport case

Do you want more contrast, sharper images? Do you want to experience brilliant star clusters and see planets more brilliantly? The Omegon triplet apochromat offers excellent ED optics with three lens elements and precision Crayford mechanics. This telescope is a pearl for every amateur astronomer who appreciates a high quality image. And as a rule, you will not pay more for these premium triplet telescopes than for a normal doublet ED refractor.

The advantages in a nutshell:

  • OTA with 3 lens element ED optics
  • 2" Crayford focuser with 1:10 reduction ratio
  • tube ring clamps with handle
  • mounting rail for mounts with GP receivers
  • removable dew shield
  • a particular advantage - includes a reinforced aluminium transport case

High-quality premium ED glass: Triplet optics with air gap for high contrast

The Omegon triplet apochromat excels with its exceptionally good craftsmanship. Perfectly fitting lens mounts and quality premium ED glass contribute to the extraordinary quality of this telescope.

Colour fringing has been significantly reduced even further, when compared to ED doublet optics, and can barely be measured. The fully-coated optics deliver the brilliant image sharpness and wonderful contrast that one normally only associates with much more expensive apochromats.

Precision focusing: 2" Crayford focuser with 1:10 reduction ratio

Successful observing can only be achieved via precise focusing! For this reason, the Crayford focuser is designed to operate extremely smoothly. The 1:10 reduction ratio lets the point of focus be found with ease, even at high magnifications.

One advantage for astrophotographers is that once you have your subject in focus you can lock down the focuser at that position via a locking screw.

Keep everything is secure: The transport case for your optics

We supply you with a sturdy carrying and transport case for your apochromat. Why? Because it is very important to keep your telescope well protected when transporting it. A premium instrument such as this requires a gentle treatment and a 'home of its own' - to ensure that it will provide you with many years of observing pleasure.

This Apochromat will provide you with a whole new observing experience: whether for visual use or for astronomical photography.

It not only matters which telescope you buy but also where you buy it. Our additional services:

  • We are a leading telescope dealer and know the devices we sell. Our customer service team will gladly help you after your purchase if you have problems with assembly or operation.
  • We provide a copy of the 80-page Telescope ABC beginners handbook with every telescope.

Our expert comment:

You can find further information about the Triplet ED Apochromat in this blogpost.

This triplet apochromat brings a telescope onto the market which, until recently, was only available at a much higher price. Initial tests soon showed just how superior the three lens element system is when compared to the two lens element ED system.

Images taken with a Canon EOS 400D demonstrate just how good the optics are: Field curvature on the 18x23mm sensor is negligible. With full-frame cameras, with their 24x36mm chips, however you should consider using a field-flattener.

Photographically, the Omegon 127er ED impresses with its relatively short focal length and - for refractors - fast aperture ratio of just f7.5, where the sharpness and the contrast are both far superior to mirror systems. This shows in the reproduction of the structure of the galaxies in 'Leo Triplet' and in the sharpness and contrast in the Moon photo.

The Omegon 127er ED is also visually impressive - allowing, for example, Saturn and the Moon to be observed at more than 300X magnification. Care has been taken to improve the image and contrast and to reduce colour fringing. The optics demonstrated excellent sharpness and contrast that can only be offered by a refractor. Even at the relatively high magnifications, no colour fringing on the edges of planetary discs, planetary rings or with the craters of the Moon could be detected.

The Omegon 127er ED now makes an instrument available that many beginner and ambitious amateur astronomers will enjoy using and at a virtually unbeatable price for the performance.
