Once you have located an area for image capture, simply press the button on the right side of the stand and a picture is taken: it couldn't be any easier. Axiolab 5 offers you easy handling and an ergonomic user concept that is adapted to your laboratory routine.

You can operate the microscope and the directly connected camera without having to change your grip. The intelligent microscope system then automatically sets the parameters for you, and documents your specimen as rich in detail as you can see through the eyepiece – and in true colour.

Scaling data is automatically added, and you do not need to invest in another computer or software. Working with smart microscopy, you can work more efficiently and completely focus on your specimen.

The Axiolab 5 key strengths are its ergonomics and efficiency. All controls, such as the image capture button, stage drive, focus settings and light intensity, can be reached with just one hand. The Ergotube and the height and torque-adjustable stage allow you to work in a comfortable position even for extended periods of time.

Simply adjust the viewing height to find the most comfortable position. The dual specimen holder means fewer slide changes – for example, if you are using IHC slides – and reduces fatigue.

In this way, Axiolab 5 reduces and simplifies the necessary hand movements allowing you to work more efficiently and comfortably.

Axiolab 5 saves costs and energy. For example, by activating the eco mode, the Axiolab 5 automatically goes into standby if it has not been used for 15 minutes. The clever lighting concept will satisfy all your requirements for maximum efficiency in the laboratory. The Light Manager supplies a uniform brightness at all magnification levels and can be configured for various contrast settings.

With the new, even more powerful white LED illumination with extremely high colour rendering index, you can visualize your specimen in true colour. The LED’s constant colour temperature simplifies system operation and digital documentation. In order to generate fluorescence and make it visible, integrated LEDs with different wavelengths are better suited than classic HBO illumination.

LEDs also save you the heating and cooling times, and bulb changes and adjustments.

It can be time consuming to get detailed, true-colour images. You know the process well: you must first position your specimen and focus on the region of interest. Then you have to go to your computer to adjust various settings such as white balance, exposure time, and gain. Now you capture the image, insert scale bars, look for somewhere to save the file, then switch back to the microscope ... and so on.

This was a typical workflow for documentation until now. The Axiolab 5 system's smart microscopy allows you to concentrate on your specimen throughout. Digital documentation is an integral part of the system. Simply press the ergonomic image capture button on the microscope and that's it! The process integrates perfectly into your established microscopy workflow and greatly increases your efficiency.

For high specimen volumes or sensitive data - or both - uncomplicated, accurate data management is critical: you need to work quickly and with absolute data accuracy.

This is where barcode labelling comes into play, which helps you to process even large quantities of specimens simply and reliably. With ZEISS smart microscopy, you can assign microscope images to the barcode-labelled specimens with the correct scaling information. Simply use your Axiolab 5, or Axioscope 5 microscope with a Windows PC or iPad, connect a barcode reader to your Axiocam 208 colour microscope camera, and you're ready to go.

Single solution for simple routine imaging

ZEISS Axiolab 5 is ready to use without having to rely on a computer. In combination with the Axiocam 202 mono or Axiocam 208 colour microscope cameras, you have all the advantages of an intelligent standalone microscope system.

Capture images and videos directly on the stand. Control the camera with the mouse (and, if necessary, the keyboard) using the screen display. Save settings. Save all metadata and scaling data from the microscope and camera. Pre-define or edit image names.
